The Duke of Edinburgh Award

The Transatlantic Council (TAC) is proud to be a licensee of the Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) program whereby we are able to provide this prestigious award to TAC Scouts. The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is a youth awards program founded in the United Kingdom in 1956 by HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. These awards recognize adolescents and young adults for completing a series of self-improvement exercises. The DofE helps young people build a life-long belief in themselves, supporting them to take on their own challenges, follow their passions, and discover talents they never knew they had.

The Award is comprised of three levels and four sections and is designed to provide a balanced program of personal development and challenge. Participants complete all four sections at each level in order to achieve their Award. At Gold level, participants also complete a Gold Residential Project.

The award consists of 4 categories:

  • Skills -Develop transferable skills

  • Voluntary service- Give back to the communities
  • Adventurous journey- Experience adventure and learn to lead.
