BSA in the News: National newspaper article from the BSA National Jamboree, celebrating Scouting and girls in Scouts BSA, August 2023
https://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/2023/08/10/girlhood-boy-scouts-jamboree/
The most positive article on Scouting in a major media outlet in years. It celebrates Scouting, the jamboree, and most importantly the experience girls are having in Scouts BSA. Scouting is described as the solution to the negative impact of COVID on youth development, today’s digital culture, and so much more. The Washington Post is the 4th largest newspaper in the US. The reporter and a Pulitzer prize winning photographer visited the jamboree for more than two days, after working with the BSA team for weeks.
TAC in the News:
Scouting Magazine is an online magazine and blog site that posts regular articles to promote and inform about Scouting BSA. The Transatlantic Council was featured in two articles in 2022:
How the Normandy Camporee helps the Transatlantic Council fulfill its role as custodians of Omaha Beach
How the Normandy Camporee helps the Transatlantic Council fulfill its role as custodians of Omaha Beach (scoutingmagazine.org)
Scouts BSA training aids family’s escape from Ukraine

Here’s a link to the super-cool new Scout Life Mini-Mag for Cub Scout recruiting: https://scoutlife.org/minimag/
Give this link to every Cub leader, so they can distribute it to potential recruits; and to current Cub families, so they can share it with their friends. It can be downloaded as a pdf, or read online. Published in fall 2022, but timeless. What’s your favorite part: the “Science of the Pinewood Derby” article by a former NASA engineer; the “Think & Grin” jokes; or something else?
