The Transatlantic Council BSA proudly celebrates this historic event with thousands participating in camporee activities on the beaches of Normandy about every three years. The American Flag is presented in a cherry wood display case with a plaque that reads: “This U.S. flag was proudly flown over Omaha Beach – by the scouts of the Transatlantic Council, BSA – In honor of the 80th Anniversary of the D-Day Landings.”. Transatlantic Council BSA has been named Custodians of Omaha Beach by the French Republic and takes great pride in their preservation.
