Coming Up at the Normandy Camporee

In a little over a week TAC will be hosting the Normandy Camporee which will take place 19 to 21 April. This will be the 11th camporee hosted by TAC. The Normandy Camporee, along with other projects over the years, has earned TAC a special recognition by the French Republic as one of the official custodians of Omaha Beach.

Program

Of interest is the Changing Lives Reception at the Airborne Museum, Sainte-Mère-Église on Friday evening.

The program for this weekend includes ceremonies in Bayeux, LaCambe and other areas, a campfire on Omaha Beach with an Eagle Court of Honor, a Meet the BSA National Leadership event, a Scout is Reverent Service, an Association of Top Achiever Scout Reception. There will also be a Normandy radio-station, a food truck rally on Saturday evening and everyone’s favorite, the TAC Trading Post. Units will have time to visit the museums and historical sites along the Normandy coast.

The closing ceremony for the Camporee will be held on Sunday morning at the American Cemetery at Colleville sure Mer. Scouts and their units will have the opportunity to lay commemorative wreaths as well as individual flowers at a grave of their choosing. This is a solemn occasion to honor those allied servicemembers who made the ultimate sacrifice to liberate Europe.

See you in Normandy!
