About TAC
Transatlantic Council (TAC) is one of the largest Scouting councils in Boy Scouts of America—serving over 5,000 youth members and 2,000 adult volunteers in 50 countries.
Transatlantic Council was founded in Europe in 1950, and since then, has grown to also serve families in Africa, Middle East, and Central Asia.
Our goal is to train youth in responsible citizenship, character development, personal fitness, and leadership through participation in outdoor activities, educational opportunities, and career-oriented programs in partnership with community organizations.
The Scout method helps to instill key Scouting values such as trustworthiness, good citizenship, and outdoors skills, through activities like camping, aquatics, and hiking. We are also proud to announce the addition of Camp Kenya in Sagana, Kenya in December 2022.
To further outdoor activities, TAC offers Camp Alpine at the Kandersteg International Scout Centre (KISC) in Kandersteg, Switzerland and Camp Avantura BSA at Camp Veli Joze in Savudrija, Croatia.
We offer an annual Klondike Derby at KISC and our signature Normandy Camporee in Normandy, France every three years.
TAC provides BSA approved historic trails in Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, and United Kingdom.
We offer the traditional programs of Cub Scouting for youth in grades K-5, Scouts BSA for youth ages 11 to 17 and Venturing and Sea Scouting for youth ages 14 (or 13 and having completed the 8th grade) to 20.
Local chartered organizations, such as churches, clubs, civic associations, or educational organization, help to deliver the Scouting program for youth within their communities. Scouting units are led by volunteers approved by the chartered organization and supported by TAC staff and district and council volunteers.
