2008 Presidential Unit List    PRESIDENTIAL AWARD Although we do not set unit level Friends of Scouting goals, we would like to recognize units who support the Transatlantic Council at a superior level. There are two levels of awards: Every unit that contributes an average of $30 per registered family and has a minimum of 30% participation (being defined as a contribution of $10 or more) will be recognized as a TAC Presidential Unit. Each Presidential Unit will receive a 10% discount on every order made from the TAC Scout Shop from the time of their Friends of Scouting presentation to 30 June of the same year. The unit must follow the guidelines listed below. The earlier you do your presentation the earlier that you can begin saving money! Every unit that contributes an average of $50 per registered family and has a minimum of 30% participation (being defined as a contribution of $10 or more) will be recognized as a TAC "Elite" Presidential Unit. Each unit will receive the 10% discount on every order made to the TAC Scout Shop. The discount will continue until 28 February of the following year. The unit must follow the guidelines listed below: Guidelines Once your Pack, Troop or Crew achieves this Friends of Scouting Family Campaign Award, your unit will be notified and the Scout Shop will be copied that your unit did meet the requirements for the Presidential Award program and at what level. ($30 or $50) The discount is for the unit, not individuals, therefore purchases must be made through the Unit TAC Account or Unit Checking Account.  Only authorized users on the units' TAC Account can purchase using the unit funds. Items purchased by the unit must be specific to the unit.  For example, a Troop cannot receive a discount on a Cub Scout Wolf cap. The discount cannot be used on Custom Design orders.  The discount cannot be used on overdrawn accounts.  The unit account must be in good standing before the discount can be used. The Presidential Unit Award is given based on the pledges received at the time of the Friends of Scouting presentation. The amount needed for the Presidential Unit Award needs to be collected by 30 June in order for the unit to continue to receive the discount. For example..Troop 300 has ten families and the goal for a presidential unit is $300. We have the presentation and the parents pledge $500 to support scouting in Europe...Yipee!!! Troop 300 is a Presidential Unit!!!!. Come 1 July, however, we discover, that out of the $500 in pledges only $2.43 has been collected. At that point the discount no longer applies., until the $300 in actual contributions are collected. Visa, MasterCard, Cash, Check, Money Order, Euros and Bank Transfers can be used to make deposits. The discount can save units over $500.00 a year on average purchases. Congratulations on the fine work your unit has done for our youth.
