OA All Call
The Camp Freedom Director, Jeremy Woods, would like to thank everyone who came out to support the closure of camp for the 2008 season.

From your Lodge Chief:
Fellow Arrowmen,
I would like to introduce myself as your newly elected Lodge Chief.  My name is Brandon Jackson and I live in Ansbach.  I hope everyone is ready for an exciting year. As your lodge chief it will be my pleasure to make this year fun.
The Order of the Arrow (OA) is the national honor society of the Boy Scouts of America.  As the honor society we should be following the four stated purposes which are:
▪        To recognize those Scout campers who best exemplify the Scout Oath and Law in their daily lives
▪        To develop and maintain camping traditions and spirit
▪        To promote Scout camping
▪        To crystallize the Scout habit of helpfulness into a life purpose of leadership in cheerful service to others.

With the OA purposes in mind it will allows us to complete more service for the camp than we have been able to do in the past.  One of my first actions as your lodge chief with the Lodge Executive Committee voted to order new archery equipment for Camp Freedom and Baden Powell.  This is just one way that the lodge can make a difference for every Scout that comes to camp.  Other ways that we can help is to encourage 100% camping participation in every unit this summer.  There are many opportunities for us to show our cheerful service by both attending camp and taking on a service project that would improve every camper's experience.
The Spring Fellowship was a great success! For those new Ordeal members you need to visit http://www.jumpstart.oa-bsa.org/  to complete your OA jumpstart training.  This will help you in the future.  For those brothers that have never completed jumpstart it is a great tool for us all and will provide some time to reflect on our own Ordeals.
But we need your help!
On the last weekend of May over 200 scouts and scouters descended on Camp Freedom helping to set up camp.
On 8-10 August we will need every Arrowman to attend the OA All Call.  For those Ordeal candidates that were called out but were unable to attend the Spring Fellowship, this will be your opportunity to complete your Ordeal.
This event is vitally important for all brothers because of the upcoming move of Camp. The last weekend of Camp is a Cub Resident Camp so we will not have the "Bigger" youth to help put away Camp Freedom.
Strong In This One, the Service Is
Mark your calendars, Lodge Leadership Development (LLD) will be November 15.  This is important for all Arrowman to attend to receive training on Lodge duties, Regalia making and fun / games.

Membership Update
If you have not already, please reregister for the 2008 OA Season.  Being a member of the lodge means that you are currently registered, which requires an annual renewal.  As of the Spring Fellowship, we have 510 members registered.  There are still some members who have not paid their dues for the 2008 season, so please get those in to the TAC Office.

ArrowCorps5

Greeting my Fellow Brothers,
What do you see yourself doing during the summer of 2008? Sitting at home, complaining you are bored, waiting for summer camp week to get here? Wouldn't you rather be a part of something big? How big you ask? How about 5 US National forests, over 5 weeks with 5,000 Arrowmen? ArrowCorps5 is the largest, most complex, most challenging conservation project ever conceived by the Order of the Arrow. Over 8 days you will have a chance to participate in a variety of activities that may include trail building, brush removal, cleanup activities, reconstruction, and one fun-filled action packed day of adventure. These projects will have a lasting impact for generations allowing tens of thousands to enjoy the efforts of ArrowCorps5.

The Black Eagle Lodge Promotes Arrow Corps5 and is inviting you to take part in it! Our lodge has been especially invited to attend the Washington & Jefferson National Forests in Virginia.

The dates are: June 21-28 2008.  Furthermore we have also been invited to attend the section conclave from the June 13-15 2008. You will be able to stay for the few days in between at the house of Bobby DeMaria, who is the NE2B Section ArrowCorps5 Youth Coordinator. He is willing to pick you up from the airport, bring you to AC5 and drop you off again at the airport.

The ArrowCorps5 fee is $250.00 per site for participants who pay their fee by May 1, 2008 (postmark date). Fees paid after May 1, 2008 will be $300.00.
