Ireland Jamboree 2008
Scouts from the BSA are welcome to join the scouts from Ireland for their 2008 Jamboree August 2-10.  You can find out more about the event at http://www.jamboree2008.ie/about/faqs/general.html
They have also put out a newsletter regarding the event which is very informative.  It is a large file but well worth it after the download (1.9 MB).

2007 Peacelight

This year TAC, together with the Greater New York Council, represented BSA at the Peacelight Distribution Ceremony held on Dec. 15th in Vienna where Scouts from 20 nations across Europe and the world gathered to receive the gift of the Peacelight of Bethlehem at the Gustav-Adolf Church. Fred Wurm was the head of the TAC delegation whereas the Boys Scouts of America were represented by members of Troop 427 and Pack 27, from the American International School in Vienna.  Led by Scoutmaster Jon Claus, who formally accepted the Peacelight, the delegation included Mark Claus, who recited a short prayer for peace, and standard bearer Aidan Graffam. Following the ceremony the participating Scouts returned home to distribute the Peacelight by train or plane to other troops throughout Europe, the Near East and the Americas.
At the ceremony, Jon Claus was interviewed by  the President of the Austrian television channel ORF (sponsors of the event) and asked to provide a soundbite ("The peacelight is on its way to the United States" or something similar).  Romanian national television station asked him to provide about a one minute explanation about BSA and the entire peacelight process. This was quite an honor for BSA.
Thank you Scouts and Scouters of Packs 284 69, 303, 325 and 427 and Troops 26, 69, 427 and 318 and Crew 3 for making the Peacelight flame shine in TAC. Thank you Pack and Troop 427 and Fred Wurm for representing BSA at the Peacelight ceremony in Vienna.
