September 21 - September 23
Centennial Commemoration Event of the Meuse-Argonne Offensive
at the Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery and Memorial
September 21-23, 2018. Romagne-sous-Montfaucon, France
The Transatlantic Council is proud to offer a Camporee at the Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery in Romagne-sous-Montfaucon, France. This Camporee will pay special attention to the observance of the 100-year anniversary since the end of the Meuse-Argonne Battle. Units will be able to camp on the cemetery grounds and assist in the weekend’s activities. Scouts can also complete the requirements for the Sgt. York Historical Trail.
There are youth camping facilities at the American Cemeteries, but unit leaders must register below. (And spaces are filling fast, so the sooner you can do this, the better!)
Volunteers will assist in placing and lighting 15,000 candles starting at 11:00 on Sunday, September 23 for their luminary event. Scouts are more than welcome and are encouraged to assist, but any of the younger scouts must remain disciplined and respectful. They are also placing 28,492 grave flags (French and US) on Saturday, September 22.
