Our Southern Camp
Congratulations on Camp Accreditation!
Camp Volcano created great memories for the Staff, Scouts and Scouters that attended in 2017 and 2018. After a review of the two years of programming at the Carney Park facility it has been determined that there will not be a 2019 offering of the Transatlantic Council Camp Volcano resident summer camp.
In 2015 our council faced a forced cancellation of the former Camp Arkadashalik in Turkey. For the 2016 summer camp season the U.S. Military MWR facility known as Carney Park was determined to be a good substitute location for a warm weather, aquatic themed summer camp program. After a review of the 2017 and 2018 program seasons it was determined that a location on the water front would be a better fit and the search began. The Transatlantic Council is thrilled to announce the new partnership with a waterfront campground that was originally built with youth summer camp programming in mind. The new location on the Adriatic Coast in Istria, Croatia provides close access to waterfront aquatics, a full dining hall experience, youth and adult cabins as an option, the ability to accommodate the 2019 changes to our overall Scouts BSA program all while being just over the Slovenian and Italian border. We feel this new summer camp opportunity will offer the same great program possibilities of the former Camp Arkadashalik and Camp Volcano in an exciting coastal location!
I look forward to welcoming you and your troop or crew to the Croatian Coastal adventure at Camp Avantura BSA in 2019!
Yours in Scouting,
Camp Director Rodney Henk
