BOY SCOUT LEADER TRAINING

Become a trained leader.

We all learn differently, and the Boy Scout training is designed to deliver the learning content in the style that works best for you—either online or instructor led.

The following Boy Scouting courses can be found on your ScoutingU account dashboard at my.scouting.org.

Position Specific Training designed for Scoutmaster, Assistant Scoutmaster, Varsity Coach, Assistant Varsity Coach and Leader. of 11 Year Olds.

  • Before 1st Meeting (1 hr, 1 min)
    6 e-courses: This plan is recommended for Scoutmasters before the first meeting.
  • First 30 Days (57 min)
    6 e-courses: This plan is recommended for Scoutmaster during the first 30 days.
  • Position Trained (51 min)
    5 e-courses: This plan is recommended for Scoutmasters to become position trained

The online training plans listed above are also available in a classroom format.

* In addition to the learning plans above, Youth Protection training is required for all BSA registered volunteers.

Position Specific Training designed for the Merit Badge Counselor.

  • Before 1st Meeting (43 min)
    5 e-courses: Learning plan for individuals in the Merit Badge Counselor role to be completed before the first meeting with youth.
  • Position Trained (10 min)
    1 e-course:  Learning plan for individuals in the Merit Badge Counselor role to be position trained

The online training plans listed above are also available in a classroom format.

* In addition to the learning plans above, Youth Protection training is required for all BSA registered volunteers.

Position Specific Training designed for Troop Committee Chair and Committee Member.

  • Before 1st Meeting (47 min)
    5 e-courses: Learning plan for individuals in the Troop Committee Chair or Member role to be completed before the first meeting with youth.
  • First 30 Days (52 min)
    5 e-courses: Learning plan for individuals in the Troop Committee Chair or Member role to be completed during the first 30 days.
  • Position Trained (1 hr, 2 min)
    7 e-courses: Learning plan for individuals in the Troop Committee Chair or Member role to be completed to be positioned trained.
