Troop C129 - Scoutmaster - John Cass

John Cass is the Scoutmaster for Troop C129 of Transatlantic Council's 2013 National Jamboree contingent.  He is also the contingent head.

John Cass is an avid scouter having completed numerous positions from Den Leader and up, in over Councils, including one unit in Direct Service Council.  After brief stint as a Bear Cub, he took a break from Scouting until he was 10 when after a stern warning from his mother, "...if you quit this, it will be the last thing you joined", he joined Toledo Area Council, Troop 200 in Toledo, Ohio - where he stayed until he was 18 and joined the US Army... the warning stuck!  A mere 24 years, 38 countries, 6 deployments, 67 airborne jumps and 17 moves later he retired from the US Army and is now serving as a Department of Defense civilian in Stuttgart, Germany.  He resides there with his wife and three of his four sons, all of whom are activing in Scouting.  His eldest son, Andrew is an Eagle Scout, class of 2006, and serves in the US Air Force.

With nearly 12 years of as a Scoutmaster, John is a firm believer in the boy-led troop and emphasis on the quality troop program.  During the 75th Anniversy National Jamboree in 1985, John made a pledge to himself to return as a Scoutmaster for the 100th Anniversary Jambore, which he did in 2010 as the Scoutmaster for the Transatlantic Council contingent.  John Cass
