Troop C129 - ASM 1 - Rob Gwinner
Rob Gwinner is the 1st Assistant Scoutmaster for Troop C129 of Transatlantic Council 2013 National Jamboree contingent.
Rob has been active in Scouting since his youth and reconnected with Scouts as an adult leader after his son crossed over almost three years ago. After 20 years of active duty in the Army as a commissioned officer and three combat deployments to Iraq, Rob retired and is now serving as a Department of the Army civilian at Special Operations Command Africa in Stuttgart, Germany. Rob currently serves as an Assistant Scoutmaster with Boy Scout Troop 324 in Stuttgart, Germany. Rob has one son who is a 13-year old Star Scout who will also be attending the Jamboree. Rob’s wife of 18 years, Catherine, is serving as the Secretary for the TAC Contingent Committee.
For a majority of Rob's youth Scouting, he was in Troop 14 charted by St. Francis Xavier Church in Phoenix, Arizona. The highlight and culmination of each Scout year was to spend a week at Camp Geronimo near Payson, Arizona located at 7000-feet along the Mogollon Rim. After each successful week, in addition to receiving merit badges earned during camp, those Scouts who completed additional requirements received a coveted Camp Geronimo honorary award and title for each year attended. Rob attended Camp Geronimo each summer for 4 consecutive years from 1979 – 1982 and received all 4 honorary awards, which included: Brave, Warrior, Chief and the most difficult, Medicine Man (which very few Scouts ever earned).
